In Kimble, Mason and Menard County, 1 in 2 women, between the age of 40 to 74, are due or overdue for breast cancer screening. This is under the state and national average. We are asking for your support in our efforts to bring a mobile mammography bus to Frontera’s rural service area to increase access to life saving breast cancer screenings. This initiative is crucial, as many women in our community are overdue because of financial hardship and/or not having the time to travel long distances to receive this important preventive cancer screening.
The mobile mammography bus will offer routine screening mammograms for individuals who sign up and will bill insurance for the cost of the test and the radiology read of the test. Uninsured individuals can get screened for $300. Frontera would like to provide up to 30 free screenings (10 per county) for uninsured residents. The mobile mammography bus will be set up in Mason, Menard, and Junction over a three-day period. To make this vision a reality, we need to raise $15,000 ($5,000 per county).
All money raised will go towards the cost of the mobile mammography bus. Funds will be marked for each county; no funds will be kept by Frontera.
We cannot emphasize enough the importance of preventative mammogram screenings and how they save lives. By supporting this cause, you are helping to ensure that the individuals in our community have access to the necessary healthcare services that can potentially detect breast cancer at an early stage.
